I have a 1990 GS. About 3 times a week, when i start my car up, an incredibly loud, high pitched squealing noise will occur. After this, for about 20 minutes, it does it when i engage the clutch, producing the noise until i let it all the way out. The mechanic says the throwout bearing is going. All together with labor and parts its going to run me over 600 bucks to have the new clutch assembly put in so i want to be sure. The bearing makes the most sense, although the noise initially led me to believe it was a loose belt. Any suggestions?

 

Lube up your belts, If the mechanic says what he think it is and you can relate it to the clutch its either pay now...or pay more later
