Default Radiator overflow tank how NECESSARY is it??

Cleaning up the engine bay a bit and the only thing that really stands out and is very ugly is the overflow tank with the line running to it from the top of the radiator. Have any of you guys just gotten rid of this thing or what? The fluid level in it never really changes so im just wondering if its really important. Also have a spoon 1.3 radiator cap if it makes any difference without an overflow.

when you car heats up, the coolant expands and fills the overflow bottle. when it cools down, it sucks it back into the cooling system. if you're running really hard, you'll need it. the cooling system can only hold so much pressure (1.3bar in your case) before stuff starts leaking.

i wonder if it'll look good if you dye it flat black with some plastic dye

If you do plan to run without it then you better plug it really hard, and make sure your fan is working 100%.

Really it doesnt take up that much room, and is needed, but I have ran without it for times if it's plugged.

If you are after the clean engine bay look you could always extend the hose and "straw" on the inside of it to another location. This way you get the cosmetic result you are after and still get the functionality of the overflow tank.

Dying it black wouldn't be too difficult.

Go get some black rit dye pour it in a pot of boiling water then set your part in it. Its not very hard. The longer you leave the part in the die, the darker it will get.

If you have a color scheme going on you can get the die in about 20 different colors.

Another thing you can do is use a bling oil catch can. The container is not supposed to be air tight other wise radiator wont be able to relieve itself or siphon fluid back in.

you can relocate it to the other side just find a bolt hole on the front side of the core support sorta like where your cai would be but on the other side and get a longer hose.

If you have a CAI, stick it where the air-resonator box used to be.
