Normal street tires, normal pads. Don't drive like a bat out of hell or you WILL wreck your chit.
yeah i have done, sebring twice, and used hawk black pads for that, i guess ill do that again, and i have yokahma AVS indermediates on now, but i dont think they make those anymore, what do you suggest?
It's a public road. Stock tires and wheels are more then enough for it. I live ~45mins from there, and i've seen more wrecks and/or fatalities than i want to. That rd will bite you in the *** if you mess just the slightest bit. When you go, give me an email or something, ill get some guys from around here together and we can meet up there or something.
I would recommend saving up some cash for the ticket your assess will get if the Blount county sheriffs are in a pissy mood.. Mine was a mere $700 for "Drag Racing".

stock parts, but drive at 6/10ths. I only used 3rd gear 3 times over the length from the lake to Deals Gap Inn. Alot of blind curves and some have DECENT banking!
IMHO the Foothills Parkway, then onto Deals Gap could kill a day or three.

Tru dat. You'll only need 3rd gear a few times. Luckily there is only one way into and out of the Gap, so if you do a little warm up run (i.e. recon mission), you'll get a pretty good idea if there are any Smokies in the area. We've never had a problem, although we usually run before lunch, and usually around 7/10ths. IMO going back toward the Crossroads is more fun because you can just throw that bitch into the turns and power right out of them. Damn, I wonder what I have to do this weekend...

I had not ridden any wheelies, crossed any yellow lines, or done any thing unsafe.

Which Deal's Gap did he go to???
V - who may have put a tire or two over the double yellow at Deal's Gap back in April.

(I made sure it was clear first, though)
I can verify that this was true. The weekend I was there 50+ bikers were ticketed. Some where doing bad stuff of course, but most were not. Any person who fought the ticket in court was immediately arrested and fined three times the amount, even if they couldn't prove it was you on videotape. If you plead guilty they knocked it from Drag Racing (which is VERY loosely defined) to Reckless Driving at a cost of $700. We were told to stay out of the Blount County city limits for 6 months following the ticket and told if we were EVER ticketed again in Blount County that they would revoke our licenses forever, from OUR state.
Just be carefull when/if you go. The police wear plain clothes and videotape like they are part of the group of people, and they all have unmarked cars and sport utilites.

I second the advice of everyone else. BE CAREFUL and remember it is a public road. It was quite sobering when we arrived only to have to wait for them to remove the body of someone who had been killed just minutes prior. Just take it easy and don't take unnecessary risks.
