Does anyone know the firing order of an 88 crx. What I am asking is which spark plug is which # and where on the distributor would that spark plug be plugged in at. Also I have replaced the battery, the battery fuse, the spark plugs, and the spark plug wires, what is left to replace for it to start? I am going to replace the ignition coil next and see if that will help. If there are any other suggestions then they would be appreciated... Thanks

Are you even testing these things you replace? I mean, you replaced the battery fuse, was it even blown? I doubt all the plug wires were bad enought to make it not start, and before you throw money at a coil, I'd at least test it, or try a known good one from a friend.

Are you getting fuel? Are you getting spark? Is your timing off? Is the head gasket blown? Test things before you replace them to make sure you don't waste time and money.

Like dr disco said check the timing and make sure you are getting spark air and fuel. Then go from there. Don't start just buying parts until you properly diagnose the problem.

 

I am getting fuel b/c I can smell it. It doesnt seem as if there is a spark b/c of the fuel smell in the air. I have no way of checking the timing. That I was told the head gasket was not blown. I replaced the spark plug wires b/c two of the 4 were missing the ends of the wires. Like the plastic cap was there but the metal piece that goes on the end of the distributor was not there. I replaced the battery fuse b/c yes it was blown to hell and back. How would you check to see if you were getting a spark?

 

I am doing a mini-me swap to my 91 crx si is the firing order for my new zx head a dizzy going to be the same as the one pictured ?? thanx

yes it will be in the same order as the pic.

pull out one of the spark plugs and put it into one of the plug wires, put it spark plug on the metal support that holds the headlight and have a buddy turn the car over a few times. if you see a blue spark jump across the spark plug then you have spark, if not try a known good dizzy and repeat.
