Default do i need my cat?

I have a 98 gsr odb2, just purchased a ITR JDM header, Where I live there are no emission control laws, so I was wondering if i can get by with out my catyltic converter? Also do I need new gaskets?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Get a high flow cat. If you use a test pipe your CEL light will come on. I got mine from IPS.

Actually, since the E.P.A. is a federal agency, we all have emissions laws -- we just don't have to put up with C.A.R.B. Here in TX (except for a few couties), we just have to pass a visual inspection of all emissions equipment (i.e. the catalytic converter). This might hold true in your area as well.

Most people (myself included) will recommend a high-flow cat over a test pipe. It seems that plenty of people have good luck with CarSound cats, especially with the JDM header.

Belive it or not there are states with no vehicle inspection.

Off the top of my head I know of Tennesse and Oklahoma.

New cars must have emissions equipment, but in non-inspection states you can run whatever you want.
