Default Help! My new Skunk2 catback exhaust rattles.

Ok, I just installed the exhaust on my EK4. Now, when I drive at about 2500rpm's my muffler has this rattle sound. What can that be? And have anyone else had this problem?

I checks if it was one of the heat shields that was loose, or if the piping was hitting something, but it wasn’t the case.

The only thing I could find was the rubber hanger right beside the rear wheel. It's isn’t hanging freely. It’s hitting some sort of metal hook from the car, making the rubber hanger not hang straight. Can that be a reason for the exhaust not getting rid of the vibration and then making the muffler rattle?

Just found a pic on the net that shows the hook thing.

i had the same issue a year or so back and sent it into Jim at skunk2, he replaced it... it took a while to get resolved though. i won't purchase another skunk2 exhaust product again. it seems as though their provider (nvidia) is slackin on the manufacturing.

do a search for skunk2 and combine it with other words, like exhaust, and problem, and rattle. i know other threads exist out there about this same issue.

ha. brings back memories of last summer. i spoke with jim too and had my catback replaced. it wouldn't fit with the OEM cat i had and he thought the bends were defective. they weren't. but it's a pretty good exhaust. a bit loud and mine ******* rattles too if i take out the silencer. to this day, i haven't found the source. i used to think a chipmunk got stuck in my exhaust and the teeth were rattling inside.

lol, my thoughts exactly

to the original author:

see if the clearances of the exhaust piping when the car is not raised are too narrow. If they are you might be able to get some different hangers, smaller ones and replace the old ones. I did the same when i installed my skunk2 SS and it hit the mid pipe of the stock exhaust, a cheap hanger from autozone lowered the position slightly leaving room for the shifter and it doesn't let the exhaust hang too low

I got some cheap hanger when I installed the exhaust. Will try to put some oem Honda hangers on and se if the solves my problem.

Tried emailing skunk2 about it, and they wont give me a the time of day because I imported the exhaust from the US to Denmark. And they want me to call them up if I want help, and I don’t want to use all the money on calling them. Great service

Have fun with that POS exhaust, just a matter of time before your piping shoot's out of the resonator like mine did. Worst exhaust that i've had so far.
