My Motor Finally Died...
Well here is the story...
I've had my CRX for a little over a year now and it has been boosted for about 8 months. It's been running great ever since I tuned it until about 3 weeks ago. I started to notice a slight knock at start-up just as the oil pressure was coming up. Quick oil change to 5w-30 opposed to 10w-30, problem still there. I didn't really think too much of it until 2 days ago when I started the car and the knocking went on for about 20 seconds, then didn't really go away and just got quieter.
I figured that it had spun a rod bearing, so I pulled the oil pan to take a peek. When I pulled the oil pick up tube there were brass chunks everywhere form the bearings.
#1 rod bearing oil clearence was super sloppy and the main bearing were in pretty sad shape aswell.
The setup...
Stock internal D16A6
SSAC mani
.60 Trim T3
TiAl 35
Custom IC piping and cooler
DSM 450's
Uberdata
Tuned for low 11 Afr's at full boost and only 6.75 deg of total timing
Between .8 and 1.0 BAR of boost (11.7 and 14.7 psi)
I'm guessing somewhere in the neighborhood of 190-200 whp
Now I'm in the middle of swapping in a D15B7
for a bit until the build on my Y7 is complete.
Here's the pics...sorry they're huge and poor quality...

damn d16a6 are tough motors. how many miles were on the motor? I could not believe how long my 155k d15b2 held 10psi... when i removed it, it was still running but loosing compression.. and i drove hte hell out of it!
wow i feel bad, my motor's (a6)completely stock and does that knocking for the first 20 secs after turning it on. i've been trying to put off a new motor, but i guess that means i gotta get my new parts soon.
anyway, good luck, and the pics aren't that bad. better than a lot of people's.

It still ran great just had a bit of a knock...I think it had about 100K on it. I havn't had a chance to pull the rest of it apart yet but I'm really looking forward to see what the rest of it looks like.

Yeah that is exactly what mine was doing, all the brass from the bearings is pluging the oil pickup. You might be able to get a few more miles out of it if you pull the pickup off and clean it out. You'll be scared by what comes out.
