I'm about to put in my new axle but I don't know which way this new oil seal goes into the tranny. The old one was pretty mangled when it popped out and I didn't see which way it goes in (DOH!). The picture in the Helms is too small to see. The seal has a spring on it, does the spring side face the tranny or the axle? TIA

 

When the seal is installed you should NOT be able to see the spring.

 

yeah the little spring goes facing in the tranny, and the flat part on the out side. the spring is what makes the seal tight around the axle for it won't leak, so don't F*** it up

 

The spring faces towards the trans. Make sure to lube it good around the outside to help it slide in easily. Good Luck
