tire ratings
what rating tires do you guys get? and also whats the highest rating ? is it Z rated cause i searched and it came up with this:
H – up to 130 mph (210 kph)
V – up to 149 mph (240 kph)
Z – speeds above 149mph (240 kph)
The Z rating turned out to be to vague, and so two more ratings were added:
W – up to 168 mph (270 kph)
Y – up to 186 mph (300 kph)
so is Z the highest or W or Y ?

Based on the data that you have posted, and if it's factual information, can you not extrupilate your own answer when you just posted it?
Don't forget there is a ZR rating as well as the others you listed.

i have Z rating, kumho 712's.. very very good tire, nice smooth ride with not too much road noise. little under 100 a pop.
i also had 711's and they're OK.. if you're trying to get a good all around tire for the seasons.. and still get some performance from them too.. i think those were H rated.
but still, i dont think it really matters bro.. cuz who seriously goes 149mph+? most of our cars dont even hit that in the 1/4..
but get Z rated tires just to say you have them.. lol

Speed ratings of tires mean a few different things about a tire's characteristics. When a tire has a V rating for example, it means that tire can sustain going 149 mph for 24 hours non-stop. Pretty much impossible for a street car. Speed ratings are used mostly for determining the stiffness of a sidewall. Obviously a tire capable of speeds in excess of 150 mph (Z rated), is going to have a stiffer, more supportive sidewall than say a tire with a maximum of 112 mph (S rated). The higher the speed rating, the stiffer the sidewall, and the stiffer th ride you will recieve. A high speed rated tire will also wear out faster than a low speed rated tire. That of course does depend on driving habits too. Definately don't go lower than an H rated tire, your handling will suffer. I'd recommend staying with a V (OE), or going up to a Z.
