i was wondering about any good games out there for pc that are more like formula1 and indy type racing and where would be a good place to find such games. i also thought that i saw a game about karting (shifter karts), dunno what it was called but looked pretty cool?

I'll second GTR...the original press demo is awesome and some high end simulation sites say the fully developed version (release date March 11th) is even better - the best simulation to have ever been made. If you haven't seen the videos you are missing some awesome stuff....

Link to the GTR videos! Videos 1-3, and the Spa 24hour are musts!

GTR is amazing, the physics and sound are truely some of the greatest I have played in any game. Playing with the Driving Force Pro really adds to the expirence.

For me in the demo with a Driving Force Pro, there is feedback for steering but nothing for curbing or anything else. Am I missing a setting or does the demo not have the full feedback yet?

to make gtr even more realistic, use a racing simulator like the one from hypersimulators. i played it at sema while i was there in october and it made almost 100% realistic. i was sweating after 5 laps because i was so tense!

hmm I am not sure about the Demo but the full version seems to have great Force Feedback, I have the wheel set to 720 degrees of Rotation and a custom FF setting and for me it works great. Heres a couple of shots that I have saved from previous races.

Does this thing move/tilt, or is it just a place to sit?

I am currently playing off of the German Release copy with the English Translation provided online. Game works great and I am having a lot of fun with it. Sad thing is by the time the US gets it SImBin is already working on the next release of GTR for 2005 edition.

The game comes with the Full Motec tuning system which I have found very complex and a bit over my level at this point, you can tune everyting in the car just how they do in real life. As far as realism is concerned I dont think that anything can touch GTR. You can even link a second computer with the Motec software and continuously moniter your car and make changes during your pits as necessary. Pretty cool ****.

and the hypersimulation thing is just a stationary cockpit somewhere to sit down to play your games.

If you are looking for something that moves check this here

It appears as if the US release date of GTR is about 2 weeks behind the European Date
gogamer.com is showing 3/21/05 for those interested

The first day i bought my driving force pro i loaded this game up and wow..... u could even feel the engine vibrations at idle . when i downloaded the patch to allow the driving force pro to work correctly on the computer all the force feedback droped a few notches . so i deleted the patch and went back to the goodness of before

I noticed a drop on the FF as well with GTR today with the new driver, but I just bumped up the FF in the settings and got it back up there. I like the ability of the new patch to set the degrees of rotation with out using DXtweak. Here are some shots from my night race today at Spa.

there is also Grand Prix Legends... yeah yeah its an older game, but it is my all time favorite driving game.

they also released a newer version of the game- http://www.pcgameworld.com/details.php/id/5301/ (and its free!)

when i get on my computer ill post a link to the track database that they have for it.... theres almost 500 tracks that you can play on .

best part is you can play all those tracks in the "demo" 2004 version of the game. They also updated all of the cars, and made it MUCH better visually. its not GT4, but its the first game that i know of that had nurburg in it

edit- after actually reading the poll i see gpl is already on there
