Default My Custom H22A Manifold pics..

baught a band saw today and got to work..

If you look closely i'm using some metal with holes in it to mount the turbo temporarly while i mock up the manifold. notice the oil cap? lol.. it placed the collector exactly where i wanted it.

my dad spinned me up some wood on the lathe which helped out. - much easier to cut than stainless. just got to do some sanding to get the angles perfect and everything should come together nicely.

i'm still very new to metal fabrication.. so be nice

pics are dark but from what I see looks pretty good. What kind of band saw did you buy? and how much did it run you? -Nick

i baught a 'Delta'.. i baught the floor model which ran me $300 canadian but they go for 330 CAN. Delta has a factory close by so i dont know if they sell in the US - they aren't the greatest tools known to man but parts are easy to find. I'm planning on making a better horizontal table and making the base more sturdy. It didn't have any problems cutting the stainless and was very strait and true.

I just got home from buying some more el's.. something i noticed was that 2 45deg's are NOT the same as cutting a 90deg in half (i'm using Kanzen Teisu ELs). if you butt the two together you'll notice that a slight amount of 'strait' is built into the 45deg el. To anyone who is making a manifold.. I suggest picking up a couple 45's to play around with.

btw.. there are NO TACKS on the runner "2"

i found a way to hold the pipes/els (from the inside) without weld - perfectly concentric to eachother.. i'll post a message about it some time.

I can think of plenty of ways to hold them, but I can't think of how you'd get whatever is holding them out after it's welded.

of course! i'm very picky about that. the 'dirty' el has no weld on it.

I actually went back to check the mani after i took the picture.. it realy tricks your eyes but there is almost 1" of clearance there..

i'll have to keep on eye on it.. but nothing i can't fix with a little bit of header wrap or osmething..
