Default F22B1 NA build-up

alright, few questions here:

Camshaft:
so i've heard about gude having crappy service, but are the specs good? if so, i can take it to a reputable place to regrind it. i've heard that it likes the RPM past stock redline, and a fix is an adjustable cam gear set at 1.5 degrees advanced to bring it back down to the stock RPMs.

Cylinder head:
is it necessary for the factory ports to be opened up a little to increase volume (duh, well, efficiency)? or is there too much loss of port velocity at other RPMs if you open them up?

Compression ratio (static, not dynamic):
i want to yield about a 10.5:1 ratio (stock is 8.8). is pistons the only way to achieve this or can the head or block be decked to get there?

Ported TB and intake manifold:
intake probably port matched to head, and the tb ported out a little.

Tuning: VAFC2

what suggestions/answers do ya'll have for me? thanks

Mark

waste of money. not to diss people like bisi and for pioneering the way with a fast single cam power plant but the F is not the best platform to go NA, great for boost though. the flow of a F head and an H head are like night and day differences.

yeah, and bisi only used a 1.5L motor with carbs.

but anyway, i dont really wanna use a turbo, not interested in the extra parts, plus i have an auto tranny and it wont like that boost very much at all. anyway, i know theres a lot of different philosophies but turbo just isnt an option for me.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't he using a F series motor now?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he's running an F series motor now with a D series tranny. He has an adapter plate to mate the two. I actually want to buy that adapter kit for my hatch once it's availibe.

did you swapp the f22 into your hatch after you totalled the accord??...i remember your talking about it, but ive never heard of mounts, unless you could use H mounts (i guess you could, why not)

bisi has a carbed f22b2 (non-vtec) carbed accord in a CRX.....according to him, the F22 is actually capable of more power NA that the H22....it has to do with the location/angle of the spark plugs and the ports, and whole bunch of complex things involving very complex physics and engineering....he could tell why.....the only reason people dont build F's is that its very expensive, very hard to find the parts, and it isnt "jdm"

I haven't yet. I haven't done anything to the car in a while. Been busy with other things. I'm searching for intrega brakes parts for the front and rear of the hatch now plus I have to get it in for body repair, I was rear ended in mid January. I need to contact Bisi again to see when his kit will be availible. I still have the motor sitting on the stand, hope to do some work to it before swapping it. From what Bisi told me, the mounts (except driver side mount) and axles would be D series since the tranny is still a D series. The driver side mount however would be a custom from Bisi that would come in the kit. I want to say he said he was trying to work with HASport for the mount, but don't quote me on that, it's been a while since I talked with him. I believe he said the kit would include the adapter plate, custom flywheel and driver side mount.

I still plan on doing the swap, just have to find the time and the funds.

Also, H series mounts would work but I would have to use the H or F series tranny and I don't want to because of a few reasons. 1 you would have to cut the body where the shifter goes to make the Accord/Prelude shifter fit. 2nd by doign the cutting that would mean no going to something different other than a F or H. Not that I plan on changing it but you never know. Plus I like the D16Y8 tranny more than the F or H trannies.

Default Re: F22B1 NA build-up (ATX96coupe)

I toyed around with a N/A F22B1 for a bit 5-6 years ago. H22 tranny, 11:1 pistons and Crower Rods, stock head. Ran mid to high 14s consitantly never dynoed though in a Accord Sedan may it Rest In Peace.

Before you start your motor, if you don't already have one get a H22 tranny, preferably a M2B4 (LSD). If not a M2A4 or M2Y4 will do (no LSD stock).

As far as a cam goes, I would attempt to contact Bisi and see if he can make something for you. If not contact Web Cams, located in Riverside http://www.webcamshafts.com.

For the block, go with higher compression, even if you're daily driven. Go around 11.5:1 or 12:1. Get pistons and rods, don't just mill the head or deck the block. Take the block to a machinist that knows what theyre doing.

Port and polish your head by someone that has a flow bench, match the intake manifold and get a larger throttle body 68mm or 70mm. Match the intake manifold to that as well.

Again, I can't stress this more, make sure you use a H22 tranny.

Hope I didn't miss anything.
