engine upgrade

i have a 99 civic ex and want to upgrade my engine to a vtech or something better

your engine should be vtec (SOHC - Single Over Head Cam). and search dude, tons of info on good swaps for your car

You do have vtec unless someone did an engine swap already. Go and look for an engine code on the left hand side of your exaust manifold writen on the block it should read D16y8.
