Default AHHH brakes gave out...almost hit a small child!!!

WTF is going on?1

Ok, so story is this....driving my '91 Civic LX Sedan home from work today (winter beater) As im slowing down for a red light it felt like my brake pedal gave out on me, no brakes. thought nothing of it, put my foot back into the brake and i stopped normally. i thought my foot maybe slide off the brake pedal or something, didnt really think twice since the car stopped as normal.

made it home no problems. Came inside, made some food, vegged out and then decided it was time to go to the gym.

Hopped in the car, backed out made my first right hand turn, no problem, came to a stop for the left hand turn, no problem. come to the stop sign, my brake pedal sucks to the floor....WTF NO BRAKES going 30 MPH coming up to a 4 way stop!! quick throw it into first let out the clutch pull the e-brake and i come to a stop in time (phew...just as a person was walking across the street...she thought i was gonna kill her....SO DID I!?!)

take a second, catch my breath and begin to pump the brake pedal...nothing, no pressure, no feedback just "air".

I turn around and limp back to my house at all of 10 MPH.

Get home and try to figure out whats wrong? it was working fine with no known problems in the brakes. just did pads and rotors and rear drums no 10k miles ago.

pop the hood, Brake fluid is low....i mean LOW. leading me to believe i have a leak? any other ideas?

GOTTA GET THIS FIXED or i cant drive to work!!

put soe fluid in and pump them up in a dry spot. If theres a leak you should see fluid and can pinpoint the problem. Maybe it was just low on fluid and you need more fluid. Also bleed the brake lines, you will probably find the leak or it may have had air in the lines thus having no pressure in the pedal.

yeah, you definately got a sudden leak. it could be anywhere. caliper, rear wheel cylinder, master cylinder or any lines. but my guess? one of your calipers. thats just a guess... im curious to hear what you find out.

I'll be taking off the wheel as soon as i get it towed to my house (garage)
