OEM LSD's & Drag Racing
Considering the abuse that drag racing puts on the car, at what whp/point should a racer consider upgrading their OEM LSD for either a aftermarket LSD or Drag Spool? Will the oem lsd hold up on a all motor 300 or less whp car for the most part?
I personally have a JDM R tranny looking to make in the 250whp range. Curious if it'll withhold the abuse or should I look into possibly a spool..

a stock LSD can take that power. I was making double what you were easily on mine. I think the diff did end up grenading after I sold it when the new owner was at the track, but these things happen. I wouldnt worry about it on your HP level.
I ran 401whp with BFG Drag radials all day long and never had a problem (stock 2000 ITR tranny). I would not have tried slicks.
(My Quiafe LSD is on order as we speek). I'm not going to try to put 521whp thru it!!

good deal then.. I'll just run the stock tranny and LSD for now and if it happens to break, then I'll deal with it later... I preload, etc.. when I race so I should be fine...
when its time to change it out though... whats better for drag... Still debating on spool or a quaife... (this is a full drag only car btw)

Spool is kind of a pain when you're doing turns from the pit/return road to the staging lanes or from the end of the track to the return road. I like the quafe myself, but I'm sure everyone is going to have answers all over the board for that.
