Default I just bought a used accord! Was this a good buy? Also "Side Airbag" Light Question

I just purchased a 00 Accord EX 4dr V6 with 6500 miles (not a misprint, driven by an older woman) for $13,600. It has pretty much every option available on it. I was curious if this was a good deal or not? Also once in a while when i am driving, i notice that the "Side Airbag" light will briefly turn on. What is this! Thanks for all your help.

Sounds like an interesting deal, although 6500 miles in 5 years may actually be a bad thing. There could be flat spots in the tires, 5 year old oil, stagnant trans, coolant or brake fluid, etc. Since you already spent the money, you should consider changing all the fluids and filters, just to get a fresh starting point.

The good news is that you are covered by the extended trans warranty - 7 years or 100k miles, so drive like crazy for the next 2+ years to make sure you didn't get a bad trans.

As far as the srs light, that could be as simple as putting items on your passenger seat that the sensors misread as small children, or it could be as complicated as a problem with the sensor, as addressed by a TSB.

Best wishes for the new ride...

6.5 kmiles/ 5years ... In general, Its BAD for a car to just seat in the garage unless conserved properly. You need to check rubber parts, change fluids.

The oil was changed religiously, I checked the service records, so it is good. Everything is operating good, and the tires are very nice (i purchased an 02 Audi in late 03 with 200 miles on it and the tires definatley had flat spots and one needed to be replaced). I was thinking about changing the trans. fluid, but i might wait until 10000 miles? Any advice against that? Thanks

98-02 Accord autos, particularly V6s, are known to have some BAD transmission problems. I'm on my second tranny under warranty from the dealer. It would be best to get it changed now. They can see if the fluid looks evil, and if the tranny goes and youre not under the extended warranty, showing them that you changed it after only 6500 miles (at a dealership) might help them reconsider.
