Default Header Decision!

Hey guys, first off, please dont flame me. I did a search and didn't really find a good enough comparision. I just purchased the T1R full catback 2.5 exhaust and I am looking to buy a new header with a 2.5 collector. I would definitely prefer the JDM 4-1 headers but its so expensive, but I'm wondering if there is any other header u guys would suggest. Is the DC 4-1 header exact same as the JDM 4-1 header? Any comments about the SMSP header? Wat about performance wise? Is there an advantage to having 4-2-1 rather than just 4-1 and will i actually be able to tell the difference? Any info on any headers will be greatly appreciated. Thx

Well if the JDM 4-1 is too expensive for you then SMSP and Hytech are out of your budget as they are around $1000-$1300.

The JDM 4-1 is a great bang for the buck if you go with the DC JDM 4-1 I've heard that it hangs very low so ground clearance is an issue.

4-2-1 is more for midrange and 4-1 more for topend. Unless you shell out and go with the SMSP or Hytech which are 4-2-1(not including SMSP's new 4-1 design) and make incredible power throughout the whole RPM range.

If the JDM 4-1 is too expensive, there is an alternative. There is a seller here on HT somewhere selling JDM 4-1 replica headers, a buddy of mine bought one and you can't even really tell the difference.. I think he paid around $200 total.

Vibrant Performance J Spec 4-2-1 with 2.5" collector

great header, great price

will give increased midrange over a 4-1, great ground clearance and excellent power potential.

Is the vibrant 4-2-1 jspec street legal in CA? Any dyno charts on the vibrant or the jdm 4-1 headers? Thx

Well if you have a large budget, you'll get the best performance from a header like SMSP or an ANR for less money. A DC JDM 4-1 is good but some people have clearance issues with it. Have a look at the Vibrant JDM 4-2-1 header, it's stainless, well constructed and isn't overly expensive for what you get and people have reported decent gains with it and have good clearance. I believe they're available from GSC motorsports on here, just check for them in the sponsor selling section.
