Will I pass inspections?
My SRS light came on the other day and I'm not sure why. I know you're suppose to repack the airbag or change the chemicals that deploy it every 10 yrs (I have a 95), but I'm not sure if it's just a warning light or if it's FUBARed. I don't feel like jumping the wires to check the number, since given the luck I've had with this car, it'll prolly deploy on me. So, I was wondering if having the light on will cause me to fail NYS inspections. I'm assuming yes, but my roommate said he passed before with the light on, so I'm just double checking with you guys to see if you had the same experience.
Oh yeah, if I reset the light, will the info be saved and the tech will catch it when he plugs my car into the diagnostic check?

Killing the power to your car for 5 minutes or more resets the ECU. I've never heard of a fluid that co-insides with the airbag. I think that may be jiberish. So before you go get inspected, pull into a parking lot and chill out for a bit with the battery disconnected. Drive over and get it inspected. Maybe it will work... *shrug

Per OEM Manuals the SRS light can only be turned off by using a diagnostic computer. Just remember the SRS computer is seperate from the ECU, its located in the center console behind the ash tray

Well noted! Thought the ECU trick would do the job. *shrug. Ah well. Good luck with your inspection.

I'm pretty sure it will fail. Inspections are there for safety. If for some reason your airbag light is on, then they can't pass it - because if you get in a wreck and the bags don't deploy....the shop could be screwed, and well - you in a wreck without airbags, would leave you screwed as well.
