Default ls vtec problem

i put an ls in my si and i have a few problems and i hope ill get some good answers. the b16 had arp headstuds, i bought the ls vtec dowel pins, and an ls headgasket. the shop dragline pro told me im suppost to use a ls head gasket, so i bought it and when i started putting it on, the dowel pins would not go through the gasket. so i stuck the ls pins on there torqued everything down.... it runs now but it smokes like hell, i believe that the water is getting in the cylinder because when i open it up, it looks wet.

The ls gasket is right. If you don't buy the ge head gasket you need to open up the dowel holes in the gasket to use the ls/vtec dowels. You should also have b18c head studs, the b16 are too short.

the b16 studs go on, but the threading doesnt go through the stud. i read on sportcomp.com you can use either b16, or b18c studs
