MY CAR DIED HELP!!!
OK so i was driving down laguna blvd on my way to work then my car started acting funny... When i shifted into 4th gear and gave it some gas, my car just started die. The rpms were slowly going down and it sounded like my car wasnt getting ANY gas. But yet i had a full tank of gas. So i down shifted, and tried to give it some more gas, and nothing, it just started to bog down. So i pull over, turn off my car, and pop the hood. It smelt like something was burning, but i didnt see anything burning. I think the dizzy went out, but i dont know whats going on so some help would be good...
Thanks, Wes

Sounds like your ignitor went out. Just a guess since you said you smelled something burning and when the ignitor goes out it smells. Take off your distributor cap and smell inside, if thats where the smells coming from then your ignitor it is.

well if you suspect the ignitor, pull it off and test it. sounds like that could be whats wrong with it. lots of people's ignitors have gone out this way.

how to
remove the cap, rotor, splash shield.
remove the 2 screws to disconnect the blk/yel terminal a+ and wht/blu terminal b-.
with dvm set on ohm.
the primary coil spec.
between terminal a and b. it should be around 0.6 - 0.8 ohm.
secondary coil spec. (the post sticking out of the coil itself at pic #12)
between terminal a and secondary coil should be around 12.8 - 19.2 ohms.

if it is the dizzy, sometimes you can check on ebay for used dizzys w/ working ignitors. you never know if they'll work 100 percent though, got mine this way for like 20 dollars. and it worked, so.. gl
