Default sparatic engine temp. gauge...

Ok, After driving a while yesterday, i go to pull into a friends driveway. I notice that all of a sudden my engine temp needle goes almost all the way to the H side but not all the way. SO im like what the hell? So I back out and drive away real quick. as soon as i drive away, the needle goes back down to normal. I then come back to his house and pull in again and the needle doesn't move. ANy ideas on what it could be. Less then 2 months ago, I had a new water pump, timing belt, thermostat, radiator, radiator hoses, and a valve adjustment done SO I don't think they could be it. Any got an idea?

check the connection at the sending unit on the head. mine was loose and was causing the temp guage to max out and then drop down.

its really small. right by where the lower hose connects to the head.it only has one wire going to it. try to get somebody to get in the drivers seat and you jiggle the wire and have them see if the guage jumps.
