Hi guys i bought a whole bunch of stuff from a guy in canada and paid him through pay-pal, it's not been a month and i havent received anything, and i cant get a hold of him. Have you guys been in this situation before, what did you do? He told me he shipped it two weeks ago but i havent gotten anything, i dont have a tracking # and i've asked for it several times. I know i have four weeks to put in a claim with paypal and that's in a couple of days. Will i be able to get my money back or am i screwed? thanks

 

sorry man but i had the same thing kinda happen to me......you're pretty much screwed ...thats why it is always a good idea to check the rating from the guy you are buying from.

 

I would definatly contact paypal. maybe they can give you some other information regarding how to contact him. If you paid with a credit card call the CC company. They may be able to do a chargeback. If his e-mail is work related (ie a company) let us know what it is. I have tracked down people's work phone before.

Sometimes, a flood of email from members and saying "I'll give you a visit" helps.
I read something like that before.

 

He's got his own website called deanwestphoto and he really seems to be legit but since i dont have my stuff, i guess he's not.

 

As previously stated, work through paypal, and if not the credit card company. If your money was collected, unless it was cash or cashiers checks, it can be traced. Good luck man, and don't give up!!!! I've been there, and am still searchin.

 

sorry guys but ive heard this too often from paypal. try to get the guy (whoever you will deal w/) to work thru escrow.

I beg to differ, Paypal is very good about handling stuff like this and i have called them before and they were very helpful. What they usually do is lock the money you payed him out of his account(they hold it in limbo basically) until everything is settled then it gets crredited where it should go.

 

Simple, he will send if you a) threaten to cancel payment, or b) write a letter to your credit card company explaining the situation and you get your $ back. I have done this several times. Paypa will send you an e-mail saying "please dont go through matters like this through your credit card company, rather us"

Forget that, paypal sucks when it comes to customer service.

 

I have been screwed by paypal 2 times. There is a 1800 number buried in their help page, but it does no good. Use escrow, cod, or just do not buy it.

you guys are right, when doing big orders i will not use paypal anymore, and rather COD so that i have the product in my hands before paying. by the way what is escrow? thanks
