Alright, I have talked to like 3 engine builders and I get soo many different answers. There is only 1 right way of doing things the way I look at it. I have a 00 GSR motor I bought which has no crank. Just the bare block. I did locate the original main caps so that won't be a problem. Since the motor has no crank I plan on putting a 99 GSR crank in the motor. Will there any be any complications. I think that the bearings will need to be changed, but is their any machine work involved.
Also lets say I don't have the right main caps and then what? People have suggested to go to a good machine shop and get the whole thing line honed. and if they are the right caps to have them dusted anyways. Also the main caps I have don't have the girdle that came with them so I need to get a new girdle. Will that just press right on.
I know I probably put myself in a bad situation, but they all claim that they can fix the motor. But I wanna know what people think the right way to do it is. I don't want this answer, that I am getting. " Uh just send it to me and I'll fix it and send it to you perfect." I want a real answer.
Thanks guys!
Most of you know that our 2000 Civic Si was stolen, this is the only reason why I didn't buy a complete motor. I thought I would save myself some money.

If you are unsure about the origin of those caps then align hone it.
And since you are replacing the girdle, then DEFINITELY align hone.
Throwing in the crank is no big deal, just need to get the proper bearings.
Good idea to have the crank balanced while you are at it.

If you are buying a new GSR crank, you can get a new ITR crank for the same price. It's balanced and counter-weighted. Call Mike K at Naples Acura, 180079ACURA. Tell him you're from the board.

Well we bought a used 99 GSR crank and I am trying to see what it will take to drop in this 00 GSR motor. If their is machining required and what not. I wanna know the right way to do it.
It's not recommended to align-hone the main journal bore.
The caps and the block are different materials, and it can't be done.
Or so I have been told by the machine shop that does all my work.

Arias does line honing as well and a lot of people recommend them. But my main questions is, since I do have the right main caps, will putting another crank from another GSR into my 00 GSR block be a problem? What is the right way to do it.
