Default When will Rota ever stop?

I used to have a set of Slip like one of many but now it just pisses me off that their biting ever rim thats popular now. I looked on there site and saw that they have their own version of Advans RG's now call the Boost. When will the insanity ever stop!! Next thing you know there gonna have a copy of the HX rims! lol I don't knock on people for rocking a set of Rota's cause people just don't have the bank to drop on a set of the real things or do they want to for getting a set of rims for the price of one rim of the actual rim that their a copy of. I like rota when they were just known for the slips. Maybe I should invest some money into Rota stock cause I don't ever see this company going bankrupt unless some company sues for false representation or some ****. Why don't companies ever sue other companies for making copies of their rims and selling them dirt cheap?

i honestly dont see what the big deal is. some poeple dont wanna drop 500+ dollars on a rim, when they can get 4 for the same price. who wants to go to the track and break a 500 dollar wheel and have to replace it. to me i just dont care if its a rota wheel or not, if it looks good it looks good. they are relativly light and somewhat strong, and if you break one its a 100 bucks for a new one. guess im just not the type of person to pay 45k for a mercury when i could get the exact same ford for 30k

I'm not a business man but damn I would do everything in my right to stop them from selling copies of another companies "original" rims. Usually your paying the higher price for the originals since the majority of the original rims are forged rims and of higher quality. I think the original maker of the rim should receive a share of profits from the sales of them. Think of it as when musicians allow other musician use or play their music on their albums or when they use a "sample" of it. Yeah I can see it as a customer you just want the most affordable rim there budget can get them. Though, think if you had a company. You paid for the R&D and manufacting and some other company just waited for you to get done with everything going into making this rim and they just made a copy of the rim and sold it for less then half the price. Then what would your stand be on this then? It doesn't really matter though if you buy a Ford or a Mercury it's like buying a Acura or a Honda. It's still going to the same place.

If the original companies were truly smart, they'd make rims similarly priced to compete, rather than just do nothing and watch sales go to Rota.

This topic is very over done. We've heard both arguments and it just gets stupid every time.

BTW: Boosts are not Advan RG's. They are SSR Type C replicas

isn't that the american way? capitalism to the fullest? take what you can, give nothing back? there are many companies that make money just selling copies. OBX springs to mind. as does Raveann and Megan Racing. it's how things work. yes, not everyone likes it, but if you've got limited funds, then that is the way to go. like Oreo said, it's about "the look". i rock my disontinued Volks every day; rain or shine. it's all about what you want to do.

personally, if they are going to keep copying, they should copy some good wheels. i wish they would make a copy of the old school racing hart cp-r fins so i can buy them in a 16x8. or some Work Rezax style rims.

Props to all the people who want to pay $400+ to get a new rim because they smashed their's in a pothole, instead of paying 1/4 of the price to get a rim that is nearly identical but without the "street cred" y0!

GO GO JDM ******.

No one cares, buy what you like and dont disrespect others for what they buy. (Unless its some ungodly terrible body kit. )

Moderately light>decent looks>functional>durable>great value>

There is really nothing wrong with Rotas......If everyone is trying to be "JDM", then they especially should have no problem with the concept of them at all.

"Moderately light>decent looks>functional>durable>great value> "

That is the epitome of Function over Fashion.....

Bah i rock rota's, and they fit the tires that i want. The look and how light they are is just a plus, and it's great for us "lower budget" kinda guys. I couldnt have afforded my itr motor if i would have spent 2g's on a set of wheels. I made a choice on what was more important to me and im very happy with it. Some people want the real thing, some people would rather spend there money on there motor, some people have money for both. It's just how it is.

wowzers! i never knew there was this much fuss over "Rotas" .. so let me get this straight.. i see that so many people are taking sides on here that its like either you're a broke *** and support Rota's copied wheels sales or you're an "o.g." and hate on Rota cuz they make money off of "o.g." wheels.. is that right? but why "Rota".. can't the same discussion be said about "Tenzo"?? about how Tenzo makes copies of the Mugen rims? (or maybe thats been said already?) anyway, just wanted to see if i understand correctly..
