Default tacho porblem, its weird

ok about 2 months ago my speedo started to stay on 40km/h when just before i turn the car on (red computer loading) and it would stay there till i hit over 40km and it would jump around a bit then from then on it would be fine and would show up a couple of times.
so i ignored that and was fine with it but last night was cruzing with my mates and was gona race my mates 02 rex when after red lining first my rev needle was playing up it jstarted umping from 6 to 3000 then up and down so i didnt know when to change lol and it did it through third and 4th... so now my rev and my speedio is doing it
and since then has't happened again after racing 3 other cars but can anyone here tell me what it would be its getting under my skin.. is there somthing i can check/ change
Btw cars bone stock

THanks

where would the ignitor be.
its not jumping around it just dies out and goes up and down sometimes when it should be about 4-5000kor how ever i was driving.

i have a similar problem. My mph needle justs sometimes, then it dies, and then it goes back to normal. I dont really mind that much. It doesnt really affect my performance. its prolly some electrical problem in the cluster.

ok well this morning i opened up my distrbutor cap and my distributor is internal and i found a little spring about 5 cm so i pullled it out and spreyed the whole dis with wd40( didnt take anything beside the cap ). and then lost that fucken spring so i had to go to work so i put the cap back on and car turned on fine but rev's still fucked and not working somtimes it twitches and goes a bit up then falls.
now my first question is would that spring missing do any damamge? (car drove fine to work this morning) second how do i fix my rev gauge?
