Could someone tell me the purpose of powder coating a header serves? thanks

I powder coated my last header , and I will never do it again. When the header gets hot it would smell really bad , and this lasted for about 6-7 months. Now the paint faded alot and was a waste of $$$.

Powder coating seems pointless. JET coating would be a good idea.
