Default obd0 B16A distributors

Gotta few questions regarding OBD0 dizzy's. I understand that they are composed of cap/rotor/ignitor/ICM ? What is a common cause of code 15? If the cap/rotor is worn will this cause a code 15? I have a code 15 and am wondering if I should just replace the cap/rotor OR entire dizzy. Thanks.

code 15 ignition output signal
usually the ignitor would be to blame..

if you have a d-15 or d-16 ignitor
laying around,give it a try..

rebuild instructions [watch-out for pop-ups]

Good info. So the ignitor is available separately? I will take my distributor apart this weekend to inspect everything. Thanks.

Most auto part stores carry an aftermarket version..

I have compaired the stock ignitor numbers on a D-16 to that of a B-16
and they where the same..so I assume it would work..
[I carry it with me for a spare..]

An ariticle that might help:

There are 2 oem ignitors, a black one and a brown one. The black one is thought to be inferior, but anything can wear out. Also tack jumping is classic symptom of a faulty ignitor. Check your Helms, there is an ignitor input test that can help diagnose your problem. Or.....jus buy a new dizzy and don't worry about it!
