Yeah. The thing that threw me off to catch it though was the exhaust manifold on the left side of the car as most euro RWD cars have the exhaust manifold on the passenger side and intake on driver side. I saw that and was like hmmm odd that would mean that.....yep there it is right there in front. :chuckle: Neat!

Punky and Bowie are one-two in qualfying for the Pro-IT (43.7, 45.0 respectively). Think Alex said that there were 11 A cars, not sure of any other HTers in the Pro. Spiff had a spin in T1, think all is ok and Lyonel was 3rd or 4th in the SARRC. Scotty was back in his absolute favorite environment, SM Soup w/ an ITC garnish. That's all I know (which ain't much at'all).
Nothing much to add - Phat S pretty much covered it. After a little incident in morning practice, Spiff ran a good race and improved throughout the whole day. Lyonel had his SARRC sprint today and I believe ended up in 4th (running a backup tranny with the stock fd). Scott, well I'll let him tell his story and how much fun he has playing with all the cute spec miatas in his group. Renee and Karl have their ECR early tomorrow morning. As for Bowie and myself in the Pro IT, we had qualifying today, but it looks like Bowie's rain dance didn't work. 90-100% chance of rain for tomorrow's race.

Spec Miata in the SEDIV = Awful
Its an amatuer club racing crash fest, and I don't care how popular it is THAT can't be defended. The chief steward even pulled every driver in the group out of their cars on the grid and warned them to not "be a bunch of idiots."
Nah, that didn't stop them. I lost count of the yellow flags in both qualifying and the race. Both sessions had lengthy full course yellows due to cars littering the track.
Did I mention that this is amatuer club racing???
Did a bunch of people get penalties? I dunno. I heard a bunch of drivers being called to the tower, but I honestly doubt the stewards could have caught all of it. The vastness of the stupidity was literally overwhelming.
Club racing. The amateur type.
I actually got hit 3/4 of a lap into a double yellow, in qualifying. Yeah, good stuff.
Even better were the *reasons* the guy gave me for hitting me when I located him to explain how I felt about him. Get it??? The justification for hitting someone under double yellow... In qualifying. Thats good comedy right there.
Club racing. For trophies. Just trophies.
I've decided that the Todd Buras, Matt Pombos and Jim Daniels of the world are the problem. Not because they are bad drivers themselves. On the contrary, they are EXCELLENT. Its the 40 asshats behind them, severely lacking in talent, trying to do stupid assed **** in a futile effort to keep up with the leaders. The end result is stupid, low percentage moves on a really crowded track.
That equals bent metal. Lots of it.
Hopefully, for the sake of every non-miata driver in SCCA, once they go national they'll get their own group and the regional herd will thin significantly.
I'm pretty fed up with it. I was either rubbed, hit, or forced off track 5 times this weekend. I'm on the verge of parking the car until some changes are made.
Scott, who didn't have much fun this weekend
PS - The Enduro was much more controlled. Renee and Karl did great, winning their first race together BIG. Karl's anus remains Simpson boot free and it looks like its pretty safe long term

Now that your rant is done, how did you do in your races? Congrats on the enduro win. Good thing Renee didn't have to put the boot to Karl
Congrats to Bowie for winning the Pro IT! The rain dance didn't quite work, but little did it matter in the end.
The temps were high 30s or low 40s and conditions went from a dry track (I think everyone started on dry tires), quickly to a damp track, then finally to a wet track. Needless to say it was plenty exciting and it seemed no matter how many times you'd slide around, the tires still wouldn't heat up. Quite a few cars had off track excursions or spins and unfortunately a few of them suffered hard hits. As for us, we had ecu problems and had to come in at the end of the pace lap to swap out ecus. This put us over a lap down by the time I rejoined and combined with a strange (and a long) double yellow where the top half of the field got put at the end of the bottom half (where I was), this placed us almost two laps down - I could see Bowie and the 2nd place A car in the mirror. The six or so laps of green that followed the yellow were just not enough time to try anything and I wish I could afford the risks to go all out when there’s almost nothing really to go for. (Still I have to admit, it's quite fun driving in these conditions.) At this point all I could get out of this race was to finish more than half of it in order complete the race requirements for my license that expires this month lol which I'm happy to say was accomplished while keeping the car totally straight and mud free.
We'll be back in three weeks for the H-C weekend and we better finally be trouble free from this point on.

Well, after having to drive off in the dirt to avoid one miata (barely missing another that was already out there) on the start. I then proceeded to get driven off the outside of the exit of turn 7, missed an ugly wreck on the front straight, and drove up through the middle of two more spinning miatas, all within the first 4 laps of the race... I just wrote the race off and dropped back to a clear spot on the track.
Vesa was having carb problems, so it was an easy win anyway.
Not much of a race. Not much fun either.
And really, its not a rant. Its ******* ridiculous out there.
All of the ITB and ITC drivers in post-race impound agreed to start a petition to get us moved to another race group. Its not any fun anymore.
