Ive got a 99 b18c going into a 96 civic and dont know what harness to use. Peeps have told me to use the b18's harness, but its not right. And some say use the harness that came with the car, while others say Obd2a and Obd2b harness pin outs are too diff.
Im gonna use the 99 gsrs Ecu. Hook me up with some answers.

 

your answer to this problem is use ur stock harness switch the iacv add the vtec wires and the knock sensor and get a jumper harness from obd2a to 0bd2b thats about, if u need anymore help just pm me there are plenty of articles on this in hondaswap.com

 

id persoanlly grab a 99 civic si or civic ex harness sicne it will match the ecu.

use your stock harness with a conversion harness on the ecu side to run the 99 ECU you will have to add the wires for vtec, knock, IAB, switch some of the CYP sensors i think...... and if your car is a DX/LX/CX WHATEVER it maybe you will have to extend the MAP/TPS/IACV and some other wires .... 96-98 harnesses are a pain in the ***

 

actually if he tries to use the 96 harness and plug in the 99 ecu, it will not work, the car will not even start

 

You use a 96-98 ex harness. You will have to cut and extend a couple of plugs to make them reach but it will all work. Use a 96-98 gsr ecu or convert your car to obd-1 with a conversion harness and use a chipped p28. The only other issue will be the distributor. What year is the dizzy?

Well you would personally have a wiring situation on your hands going that route considering the car is a 96 (OBD2A) and the 99 Si/EX harness is OBD2B which = no workie. As mentioned the best route to take is using a 96-98 EX harness or simply reusing the stock harness, rewiring the IACV and adding some wires, not that hard to do. But basically that's your 2 options, any other harnesses will be a lot more work and a lot of rewiring, don't do it!
And by the way, the 99 B18C ECU will plug into the OBD2A harness because it is OBD2A. Integra's didn't change to OBD2B until 00.

 

learn something new everyday, i had thought that the changeover to obd2b was 99 for tegs and civics.

 

is that true? its a 99 teg motor, could it still be obd2a? im gonna assure its obd2b unless yall can enlighten me.

but i think 00's did change from the 99's. like the imobilizers.

 

1999 Integra's are OBD2A for sure, do some research and if you find the correct info you will see that they changed to OBD2B in 00.

 

VTECVillain is correct.

99 civic = OBD2b
99 integra = OBD2a

Like others said, you need a 96-98 civic harness. Different trims of civics had diffferent style sensor (most of the time). The EX harness will need less wiring work to work on the B18c.

Just beware, Some companys that sell swaps switch up ECUs, may sure it is off of a 96-99 integra or a JDM ECU (OBD2).

 

didnt know that.. i was thinking obd2b.. well its a 96 ex coupe, so i could use the stock harness but its pretty hacked up from running ZCs. so if anyone sees this ands got one for sale..

Engine harness, vehicle harness, a bunch of wires whatever you want to call it... thanks for your useless post. Funny thing is I don't see anywhere that turbogixxer referred to the harness as an "engine" harness. Even if he did 99.9% of people would also refer to it the same.

What the hell are you talking about. I was telling the guy what he needed to do to install his motor in his car. I didn't say a thing about vehicle or engine harnesses. You need to learn to read.
