Default 5spd trans not spinning motor but engaging...

well me and a buddy threw another b2 in my car, we went to go for a drive to make sure all was kosher. its a new block and head, old transmission. the transmission had no real previous problems.

motor runs flawless nearly, although my turboxs boost controller started leaking through the orings....

but heres the deal, the tranny was working fine, for about 2 minutes or so, then heard a small clunk, ching...now we can have it in gear and the timing belt doesnt even spin when we push with it in gear (pop start)...
we have clutch pressure, the shifter engages into gear, but you let up on the clutch and nothing, it feels like its going to grab, but then it just doesnt....just stays as if nuetral.

is my transmission internally fucked? or is it something stupid that maybe we forgot to hook up?

thanks
Dave

sounds like something to do with the clutch assembly since thats the only link between the tranny and the motor....
if you are trying to roll start it and the motor isn't even turning then obviously the clutch is not grabbing the flywheel. could that clunk, ching ching sounds maybe be your pressure plate fucked up and not applying pressure on the clutch to engage on the flywheel. i would pull the tranny back off and check out the pressure plate

or maybe...hmmm...could the throwout bearing come off the fork somehow and your car is just stuck in nuetral from when you took off/put on the tranny. so the throwout bearing isnt applying pressure on the fins of the pressure plate to allow you to put it in gear.

I bet its clutch related, move the boot on the slave cyl and see if the fork is moving.

axles are in, but thanks for the laugh kid. its clutch related, either disc, pp, fw, or throwout bearing. tranny gets pulled today.
