Default tiny shavings in oil help?

well its been awhile since my bro inlaws cars has been broken down. at first i thouht that it was the head that was making the ticking noises but during the process of taking the head off i decided to check the oil, well it was'nt reading anything (like really low)so i drained the oil while the oil was draining i let some of the oil drip in my hand when i looked at the oil it was pretty black and had gliter like shaving's mix into the oil. what can be the problem?

just a reminder i heard the ticking noises after it bounced off of the rev limter but i only heard the ticking like nosies at higher rpms then i drove bout 25 miles w/ it ticking before it died also the nosies started to get louder and then start ticking at lower rpm's before it died.

oh-oh sounds like the bearings, take the pan off and see what you can find...

yup take off the oil pan and yu'll be able to check the crank and the bearings... also you said you opened the head, did you check the camshaft for wear? That sound seems like bent valves but I couldnt tell unless I heard the engine, cause one guys tapping is another guys knocking

try to wiggle the valves by the nuts that you see between the cams... do they wiggle? if they do, uh oh... that was one of my problems and i'm buying a new head next week. bearing sound like the problem though.

you heard the ticking noise after bouncing of the rev? you might have a bent valve? its a posibility. to a compresion test.
