Any one had a problem with clutch fade on their ITRs?
I was racing a couple of days ago and I took off and broke the tires loose through 1st and 2nd when I hit third it was like I was in neutral. I waited a few minutes and coasted then finally the clutch grabbed. It smelled something awful. I have heard of brakes fadding in racing but I haven't had a problem like that with a clutch. I don't know if the pressure plate was going out or the disc just got so hot that it started slipping. Will it be okay to drive now or would the flywheel and pressure plate surface be glazed?
Sounds like its time for a new clutch. You are going to have to have the flywheel resurfaced anyways, and might was well buy an aftermarket clutch while your in there.
Well, its all about how you drive it. Do you beat on it or slip it alot? Thats the kind of stuff that will kill a clutch. Just my $.02, id buy an aftermarket one, they grab harder and last better under lots of abuse.
