You may need to crawl under yor dash to double check that all of the cables and stuff are still intact. There was a disconnected cable once on our Jeep and it did the same thing, the air flow was restricted to the dash vents. Just a thought, maybe try that if you havn't already.

When you are checking under the dash, check out where the levers that attach the cables to the unit itself. That was where it broke on the Jeep, so what happened was basically the little lever was no longer pulling on a cable.

Hmmmm. Do you remember what happened when it actually failed on you? Was there any sound of broken plastic or anything?

Unfortunately it sounds like you may have to. So when you moved the lever, could you see them moving behind the climate control unit as well?

Yes i moved the climate control unit out from the mounting bracket...i could see behind it and the lever is pulling and pushing the cable...my next question is if the mode doors are vacuum operated, cable, or electric?

Got this far...i talked to my HVAC teacher, and he told me its cable controlled, so i pulled some **** apart and noticed that the cable was still connected to the back of the hvac panel so then the cable should then go from there up in the dash some where to the mode doors, and it prolly broke off up there is his guess, easy fix, but time taking and alot to do...Hopefully i get it done, sux like this...any more info needed! Bump

The thing that gets me the most on this...is i just had ac class, and i learned when the doors fail, they are designed so that to mode doors fall back to the defrost position, so no matter what atleast you can see...but this isnt the case...BUMMER

you can get to where the cable attaches to the box without pulling the dash. look under the dash behind the center console, you should see all this linkage and gears and stuff. good luck.

Does anyone know for sure, if the mode doors are vacuum operated or cable?
