Default Shopping for a Rollbar...

I am in the process for shopping for a rollbar. I know many people use the Autopower and I'm thinking of buyng this one with the harness bar: http://www.ioportracing.com/Me...AP981 .

Is that the bar people are typically buying? Does anybody know ow much room there is from the back of the seat when slid all the way back to the bar? I have some sparco seats that are pretty far back and want to make sure there is room for clearence. I see in some other threads that the front seats were not removed for install - is that typical?

these days i think they make only erw.,..or in my case this was the case.

harnessbar or not, you wont be using that thing for a harness bar

front seats dont need to be removed to make it fit, but you might as well remove them. it makes the job soooo much easier.

i have a set of sparcos and they work just fine.

Uh... how the hell do you get it in there then?

The cost of the car + cost of shipping + hassle of install sucks.. if there is a good local cage builder that can build you a custom 4-point bolt-in bar for about the same price then get on it.

I think your seat should be okay. The 6'5 tall *** honkay was able to drive 234 w/ the AP bar and mugen seat.

Yes, same as mine but I requested it be welded and not bolt up.

There's room but I've never measured it. I'm guessing mm's since my passengers seat is similarly close when set fully back.

I have the same seat on a sliding base so I'll check this weekend and maybe measure it for ya.

I don't think so. I can't imagine getting that big thing in there without the maximum amount of space to move around. You could IM rodney and ask him since he did my install and I wasn't around at the time. But I do remember the car being seatless when I cam to pick it up and we just installed the seats when I got there.

My seats stayed in. Pushed all the way forward (on the tracks and seatbacks pushed forward too) and the headrests removed. No problems.

I recently got a bar through JoeSTypeS and I'm very pleased with it. Customer service was awesome and the quality of the bar is outstanding. I'm waiting until my buddy with a good digital camera is available for some pics, but once I put up the post, I'll be sure to link it here.

I currently have an autopower in my R. I am not sure if I want to part it out though... I am trying to sell the car with everything in it... we will see how it goes.

sergio, if you're serious about getting a rollbar/cage custom built, call steve (corner3).

I'm curious as to why you say that. I thought I had seen several people using the Autopower harness bar for its intended purpose. Is there a problem with the harness bar?

Only problem with autopower harness bar is that there are no harness guides. So the harnesses slide around. One simple fix is to zip tie the two harness together at the harness bar to prevent them from sliding around.

JoesTypeS bar looks really nice and if I had a choice i'd switch my autopower for it.

The TrueRace (Joe's) does have the little harness guide thingies, and they're wide enough for 3" shoulder belts
