Cd player/Radio options
sorry if this is not in the right spot, i also tried a search and didnt get the info im lookin for. I have a 93SI w/216,000 miles on it so putting money into that car (being a poor college student) seems dumb. well, i got a kenwood kdc 519 legally for $20 but now, over a year later, the faceplate shows random colors and lines or just nothing at all. the local fixer place said there is a $30 bench fee plus parts and labor and stuff to fix it which could be who knows how much.
i've been looking on here in the classified section for a cd player that is relatively cheap (under $100) but still works fine and have found a few but my questions are:
What are my options?
Can i put any different stock honda/acura CD players in my 93SI?
should i pay the $30 bench fee to see if my kenwood can be fixed?**
has anyone had any problem similar and could give me an idea of cost to fix?
**On a side note, the closest to my problem i've found is this
http://www.audiovideo101.com/c...=4153
which is not exactly my problem ( i do not have use of any of my buttons) but is close.
Thanks to anyone who provides any more info. I'm not too knowledgeable about car stereo equipment.

You can put a Honda/Acura stock cd player in your car just as long as it has the same connectors and you have the code for it...I have a Sony Xplode for sale if you'd like to buy it. I had it in my GF's car for about a year and took it out cause she pissed me off
well, that would be cool... i have the wiring harness that i could take off of the old, broken cd player, i was just thinking that a honda/acura cd player may plug right up to it... does honda have different wiring harnesses for different cd players? if so which ones would i be able to get to work with my 93?

Yeah, I know that 97-98 Preludes have the same connectors but 99-01 Preludes have a diifferent one. I have a Sony Xplode for sale if you would like to buy that. Here is a pic of my stock radio.
Yeah, i think i e-mailed you about your cd player, maybe for pics or something... Would either a 97-98 or a 99-01 work with my 93? i cant really tell by the pictures and i dont remember off the top of my head what my wiring harness looks like but i think if it were either it'd be the 97-01... but im thinkin neither... anyone else have any ideas?

How much for your sony?

How much for your sony?
I 99%sure that the 97-98 Prelude Cd player will work...Also, if you get your hands on an Integra Cd player, that will work also, but those cd players say Acura on them instead of Honda..For the Sony, I"ll sell it for only $53shipped to you

Any Honda/Acura factory CD player before 1998 will work in your car. If you'd like to keep your Kenwood then why not look for a replacement faceplate on Ebay? They have tons of faceplates on there going for like $20.
i dont think its the faceplate, i think its the actual unit.
also, do you have any pictures of the sony? maybe a model no. so i can look it up.... that sounds like a damn good deal.
