the turbo xs uses allen keys and the turbo smart uses *****. Other than that i figure both are the same. I am using the turbo xs dual stage.

I was thinking that myself. So what is the best manual boost controler? I heard some controllers tend to break... is that possible? Im looking to boost on my stock gsr motor. My next question was going to be should I buy egt gauge or wideband? Being that im going to use stock internals, which would be a better choice? Well I did some research and decided to buy a hondata s200 with boost so hopefully that would help.

no you want MBC or any boost controller vacuum lines to be as SHORT as possible for accuracy and response. the hallman one is like a standard MBC udner the hood, but it coesm witha line comnig off it that goes to your cabin taht you montu that you can turn. Kinda like... a throttle cable.sorta kinda.. not. lol

I didnt pick up a egt yet, maybe I should look into a wideband. Whats the biiiiiiiig difference though? I mean the egt can tell you the exhaust temp which is usefull so your engine wont blow....but then again the wideband can tell you if your running rich or lean. So, whats a better choice? keep in mind im planning on running boost on stock gsr motor and im keeping ac . So hallman boost controller is the better choice huh. Anyone second this opinion?

Not true.

Most professional drag guys run MBC's because they're relaible and work fine. Plus why spend money where it's not needed?

I had the the turbo XS standard boost controller it was simple but I had boostspike issues with it.
Now I have the Turbosmart dualstage it works like its supposed to and no longer have spiking issues.

Hallman is an awesome controller. I ran one before. I got an TurboXS dual stage now becuase i wanted some room to play and switch hi/lo settings.

They both work out great for me.

TurboXS is junk, spikes like crazy. Plus, I hated the fact that you have to use a allen key to adjust it. Turbosmart MBC are great. It just uses a simple **** and it has a detent feature which causes the MBC to click as you turn it. Not only does this help in tuning, but it will also prevent the **** from backing itself out while it is shaking in the enginge bay.

get the zeitronix wideband w/ lcd display. it has a display for the egt on it so you can just purchase a probe from them with it. i would run both but that is just my opinion

my turboxs works great soo far. If there is spiking you should look into other things and test more before you blame it on the controller.

Beat me to it. I've had no issues from my Turbo XS.

This is why I'm getting the turbosmart MBC, I like the design and the clicking mechanism, it's easy to adjust the boost and I haven't heard any complaints about it...

Are you using the zeitronix wideband? Lcd display sounds great, if this wideband has both options then I most likely would use both. Anyone using Widebands in here? What brands are good and which just plain old suck?
