Doing a ATS FD, but now am wondering about ATS 3,4,and 5 gear set instead of ATD FD
I was at Yasu's website, and was looking at the comparision chart, and for just a Little more money I can get the 3,4,5 gear set, and it seems like acceleration will be alot better than the ATS FD, in 3,4,5. And I will keep it stock, for traction in 1,2.
I didn't want to copy something from somebody else's website so here is the link http://<a href="http://www.racingcra...ison.shtml</a>
So go there and Look at the 2 charts to see which one you think would be better, and Oh I dont care about highway driving

So by this topic you mean you'd do either the ATS 4.929 FD or the ATS 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears, or Both?
I just saw Yasu the other night when he gave me my FD. I'm not totally sure, "you'd have to ask Rodney but," I think that in both of Yasu's track cars the ITR and the CTR that he runs stock gears and just swapped for the ATS FD.
I also pondered the idea of doing the GSR 5th gear but after much searching, investigation and talking to rodney and Yasu I decided to keep the ITR stock gears and just do the FD and lightweight flywheel.
IM Rodney and ask him about the relevance or importance of the ATS gears. Or just call Yasu himself and pick his brain, he's very knowledgeable and honest.
Good luck, I can't wait till I get it installed, February 26th it all gets done.

If you get both you'll top out at 107 mph. Seems pretty slow to me. Would be good for slow circut or autocross, I guess.
Agreed Dr.
I do remember doing the calculations for that awhile ago that is why I am curious as to exactly what he wants.

sorry, was thinking of getting one or another, not both, 107mph@8000rpms, is a little to low
i am running the ATS 3-4-5 gears and i must say it feels awesome. the driving 'feel' is incredibly fun... it's a completely different feeling from having a final drive. with a fd, the rpm pull faster, but with the gearset everything feels smoother and each shift keeps you in the best possible powerband. when shifting, the revs only drops between 700-900rpm
with the gears, i am using the 4.4 FD. the absolute highest FD i would consider would be the 98specR 4.785; however, with that FD, your cruising rpm and top speed will be crazy. and for sure, the ATS 4.9 FD is out of the question with the gearset. with the gearset, cruising at 60mph, the rpm is around 4500rpm (if i remember correctly... well, at 120km i think it was 5000rpm)
if you value 'driving feel' a lot and enjoy shifting thru the gears, you should get the gearset over the FD

ATS FD + ATS 3-5 = insane track car
personally i'd just do the FD and call it a day. just dont see the point of messing with custom gears on a daily driver. although i do see that a few others have had good experience with it, i think its more cost effective to do the FD rather than the gears.
