take off, as in launching? I launch my 4th gen (H22) from about 3000, just because above that it doesn't do anything special.

Wait a second, are you racing or driving normally. I guess if you are driving normally, I can start at idle and work the accelerator with the clutch while I am letting out an my rpm's only travel up to 2k when the clutch is completely disengaged. If you are racing, feather the clutch at like 3000-3500rpm's. However, I have a 4th gen, but it shouldn't be all that different. Good luck!

it all depends on what you have done to your car like clutch, differential, tires, and engine mods.

In Pro Solos, I'll launch my stock 4 gen. (with V710's) at about 4500. Jump off the clutch and mash the go-pedal at the same time, and I usually have minimal wheel-spin. YMMV.

I have a 4th gen and it's an h23, with stock wheels and tires it is dropped pretty low, and a few engine mods...if I go over 3 grand and drop it, and floor the gas, the tires just spin...so I tried launching at 1500-2000....and it has much better launch, with much less wheel spin

Don't do the ricer launch from redline, hondas aren't meant to do that. You'll just spin tires all over the place and it'll take forever to hook up.

You should launch your car at 5k but don't drop the whole clutch feather it. Usually if you do good rpm stay at 5k and traction and vtec kicks in same time you just takes off

Feathering the clutch at 5k'll make it die SO fast...just launch from 3k

You could do this if you want to replace a clutch every weekend. I dump the clutch around 3k and slam the gas. A little wheel spin, but it hooks up pretty quickly.

If you have a good clutch launch in vtec. My best 60' time was launching at 6k feathering the clutch.

Means you let the clutch out slowly, not all at once (dumping). I won't do that to my daily driver, I don't need to be changing clutches every 6 months. I can kinda see the advantage of launching at 5-6K though, If you're good and can feather it out just below the threshold of wheel spin, you'll have peek power available for the duration of 1st gear. That is the theory right?

If you get good at it you should be able to see vtec the whole time in 1st gear. I dont launch my car the often but when i do i feather. Had my cm clutch in for about a year and 3 months now.

i dunno about everyone else, but launching at about 2900 works perfect for me. no tire hop or anything. i'm all stock on toyo proxes, tell me how that works for you!

i have a act stage 2 clutch, LSD tranny, and a jun flywheel. i rev it up to about 5k's, somewhere around there at least and feather the clutch off... it works bad *** once you know how to do it, and like HTDdragon said when you do it right you are pretty much in vtech the whole first gear.

and yes launch around 5-6k and feather, great 60ft times when you figure it out. before then you will just be making tons of smoke, so pratice

This is a step in the right direction, but at 5k you should slip the clutch and feather the throttle until you hook...it will hook fast...as mentioned by HTDragaznthing( vtec and traction will kick-in at the same time), basically what you're are doing is launching in vtec. it will take you about 3 runs to get it right....it makes a big difference...your 1/4 mile times will reflect.

i have an h23 with intake and exhaust and 17" wheels. if i launch above 3k it spins all through first and half through second but if i launch a little below 3k maybe 2 to 2.5k it won't spin for too long maybe until 5k or when i shift to second.

*edit* this is with dumping the clutch and stomping the gas.
