Default Help, injector questions

i was pulling out my fuel rail and injectors to change the old fuel rail and FPR, i was pulling out my injectors and on one of the injectors the plastic tip that goes into the fuel rail was able to be pulled out, i noticed this when it fell out of the injector and onto the intake manifold, before i do anything else i wanna make sure what it will do if i dont have it in which im sure would be a bad idea and should i just get a new injector, or used, and that it would be fine then?

Are you talking about the little black plastic thing that goes into the top of the injector? If so, that's a wire screen. It'll catch any big debris that somehow made it passed the fuel filter. It doesn't take much to clog up a fuel injector or mess up it's spray pattern.
If you're replacing the injectors I wouldn't worry about it. My RC's didn't even come with the strainers, and the stockers didn't fit in there.
I guess you really don't need the strainers in there. Like I said, they're just there as a backup in case your fuel filter lets something get by.

I'm thinking you're talking about the little screen that goes in the top. I think it's a 10 micron mesh or something like that. If you have your injectors out anyway it's a good idea to clean all of those anyway. Soak 'em in some gas and back flush them with warm water.
Like I said before, you can run the car without those, but they're a nice thing to have to catch any kind of crap that might make it as far as the injector inlet.

the piece im talking about is just a plastic piece, i was guessing that it would open the injectors up to pull more fuel into the injector, just a guess tho, but i didnt see a screen, just a little plastic piece that is thinner in the part that goes into the injector and then has a flat piece at the top that is bigger to catch on the top of the injector.

i dont have a camera, but when you pull out your injectors, at the very top, were the injector goes into the fuel rail, right above the o-ring. they are like an 1/8th of an inch thick; normally, from when i have messed with them, the top piece never fell out, but on one of mine it did, the other pieces seem like there is something holding it in, im not sure tho........

I was sure that all the b16 and d16 injectors were the same at 240cc. Well at least the d16vtec I know that the cx's were smaller.

That tell me that you're talking about the strainers. You don't NEED them, but it'sa nice thing to have. And they don't get held in by anything. They just kinda sit in there. If one fell out no big deal.
