Tein vs. D2?
Just ordered some D2s myself. I was going to go with Tein FLEX for around $1300-1400, but D2s are only around $900, lighter and have numerous spring rates to choose from. Can't wait to get them
not a new company just a new company to north america. they are a well established in south east asia.
We only recently started importing them to the states and are now the North American headquarter for d2 racing, so if you have any inquiries you can direct them to me.

and to answer the orignial questoin, i will attempt to just lay out the features of each in an attempt at an unbiased opinion.
if you look at tein coilovers, the shock bodies are maid of out steel i believe, and are prone to rusting, as i have seem many threads about peoples shocsk rusting up. Steel shock bodies are also heavier than aluminum. Lets compare a set of Tein SS coilovers. while i believe they offer dampening adjustablity, and ride height adjustablity, thats about all.
where as compared to the D2s, you get dampening adjustabliity, shock body height adjustability, spring preload adjustable independently from the ride height, and all billet aluminum construction parts, which are much lighter. They also come with billet aluminum top mounts. These units weigh in at about 10lbs a corner. I'd like to see any shock/spring combo come close to that.
Thats the basic run down of d2 coilovers.

I think only basic'sand ss are steel bodies. All the rest have the same capabilites as those d2's,but not at that price

D2 has been around for awhile in the Nissan crowd. Alot of people have their coilovers but have complained when having to send them back to asia or where ever to be rebuilt. Overall they have had some real good reviews. I decided to go with Tein HE's on my S13. on my lude i just have springs

Oh yeah, it's a DD now. You don't love it no more, at least not as much as before.

Price for the prelude crowd is 892 shipped in the 48 states.
As far as sending back to asia for anything, theres no more need to, we just established the north american headquarters, so any warranty issues, etc come right to me, here in the states. and i speak fluent english too,

oh yeah for the HT guys, i'll give you all free custom spring rates when you order a new set. of the top of my head right now, i believe we load the ludes with like 7k/5k. We normally charge 50 bucks more for swapping your springs out.
but the shocks can handle alot more than that. i've daily driven with 11k all around and it held up fine and dampened the hardest bumps and potholes. ahh gotta love nyc and the 6" deep pot holes, hehe

urban import? do you know Michael? (i think thats his name, not sure how big UI is...) i just ordered my front bumper from him and ive been talking to him about D2, which is why i made this thread
ive been reading up on d2 lately and i think they sound awesome.

i am pretty sure tein makes better quality suspension components. d2's are still new for the honda crowd so its gonna be awhile until complaints start coming in. tein has been in the game for awhile and rust is seriously due to maintenance. i have my teins for awhile and no rust just throughly spray it down when you wash the car. but d2's have pts for being lighter but that doesnt win me over. i wouldnt take suspension cheaply either its the decesion whether you loose control on a spirited turn or carve the crap out the turn like a knife.
I found these pics and more info about the D2 just searching on Google. Sounds like a good quality coilover, just doesnt have the name to retail for $1200+.
