I took it to the dealer today. They said everything's fine. Supposedly there's 3 syncros involved in gears 1-2-3 and 2 syncros in gears 3-4 and 4-5 and 5-6. This is there to prevent downshifting from 6 to 5 and accidently downshifting to 3 and blowing out your engine. I know it's not my shifting technique and it's not my imagination, because there are multiple posts on this site and club rsx with the same problem on 05 Type-S. If i shift really slow and softly it's not too apparent, but if I shift normally, there's still a crunchy shift from 1-2 and 2-3. I guess I'll just drive it and if it gets worse I'll have to bring it to the dealership and hopefully they'll replace the syncros. But there are multiple posts of people who had their transmissions rebuilt and syncros replaced and the problem was worse than before they brought it in. Pretty shitty for a 24K car and for a Honda. Maybe they'll have a service bulletin as time goes on and the problem becomes more apparent, and they'll figure out what's wrong and fix it.
ummm im pretty shure its not the 05 that had the prob wasnt it the 02-04 ep???...cuz i got an 05 and i never grind unless i try to downshift into the wrong gear...like say im goin 10mph and try to put it back into 1st..thats the only time i grind
I have the 1-2 crunch/grind when the car is cold. My method to avoid any crunching or grinding is to swing the shifter into neutral for a split second then into 2nd, instead of going straight down from 1 to 2nd. It does take more work, but I just do it till the car is a little warmed out and then proceed with just normal shifting.

I find I have the same problem on my RSX as well. When the engine is cold between 1-2 there is a crunching. I haven't experieced any grinding between 2-3 as the original poster said he had. If you just try to shift slow and smooth while the car is cold (you shouldn't have your foot in it when it's cold anyway) it minimizes the problem.

My 05 transaxle never grinds on the 1-2, my shifter doesnt pop out of third gear, my shifter never has excessive vibration, if there is a problem its most likely the dirver. I've spent some time reading clubrsx forums and its pretty funny what I see on there.
