Default indiglo gauges installation problem

so I've installed the indiglo gauges. The installation was exhausting, took me over 5 hours to do it. Everything works and looks good except one problem.

I had to remove the gauge needles and put them back in, they all work fine except the rpm needle. That one does not move smoothly no matter how i put it in. The only time it can move smoothly is if i try pulling on it very softly and i can feel it come out a little, but once i let go it goes back in. Has anyone had this problem before? why would it do that? the needle works, but it's just not smooth, sometimes it stalls and then moves...

pleeeez help

if you bent the needle or if its touching anything than it will do that.. If nothing is touching it than it should be fine and I dont know what your problem is.

yeah... maybe i shouldnt have taken off the needles but it seemed impossible to put on the gauges without taking the needles off. Well everything works fine except the rpm gauge but I have a good feeling that i'll fix it. that makes me happy

never take off the needles your accuracy in all o them are now shot. i put indiglo gauges on and had no such problem. You can slid the needle thru the center hole of the gauge then sip the hole around the center part iof the needle, It's tight but using a small pointy tool works wonders. As for your rpm not moving well... it's probably bent or your gauge isn't flat. Good luck

yeah i know, but there's nothing i can do now. my speedo is just like it was before, i put the needle back just like it was, and then i measured it with my friend's car and the cars were side by side at the same speeds. my rpm needle measures about 300 rpm too high which is not a big deal and i'm gonna have to fix it anyways so i'll adjust it then. the temp seems fine too except that now it doesnt climb as high as it used to. fuel gauge seems fine, i'll have to see when i'll have an empty tank.

btw, when u were putting on the gauges, did u do both temp and rpm at once, or did u do temp first and then the rpm one? what about the speedo and fuel?

If you look at the gauges I did them individually, the only tricky one was the fuel and engine temp. since it's 2 needles on one gauge face.i still managed to get it on without taking the needles off. I did have to drill a hole to pass the wiring thru but that was it. Well as long as the look and work right all is good. The rpm thing, if it's not the needle of the gauge face then you may need a new cluster... or just to deal with it's inaccuracy.

Will cutting into the indiglo guages cause them not to work right? I have to modify the 99 si indiglo guages to fit my 97 civic VTI. Everything was the same except the mileage and miles guage were swapped around compared the si. I need to cut the top one a little bigger so it will show the complete mileage. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
