B20
Hey I'm new, and I was just wondering what kind of set up would be best for a B20 inside a 97' Hatch? I don't need high power but something I can hang with GSRs and the Preludes around my town. Any input would be great.
PS I'm 15 with a 97' Hatch that drives on a permit lol nothing too loud to attract cops you know?

Learn to drive first, then maybe worry about modding the **** out of a car you'll likely end up wrecking anyways?
But I think the consensus will be, swap the head and run ITR/CTR cams or something like that. One of the b-series bandwagoneers will give you some info for sure.

I know, 15 year olds know everything. Watch, you'll tell us how smart you are and what a good driver you are and that you'd never ever get in an accident with your car.
hey i never said that and I don't want to disrespect elders. So all I need is some information.. if not then it's ok. And i'm not the cocky kind of little teenager you are talking about.

i would just say, watch, learn and research. dont worry about what will hang with what. you dont need a super fast car right out of the box. patience my son, patience
how much money do you want to spend?with bolt-ons(header,intake,LS or better intake manifold, exhaust)the B20 makes good power.
in my hatch i have a B20Z with just a K&N filter,LS intake manifold and 2.5" exhaust.it hangs with or beats any of my friend's DOHC VTEC powered cars when we play around.search on http://tech.hybridgarage.com/index.html-there's a lot of info where one of the original admins took a B20 and did lots of dyno runs with different bolt-ons.he was able to make right around 160HP/155lb.ft at the crank with just intake manifold, intake, header and exhaust.that's the same power as a B16 with WAY more torque than any of the DOHC VTEC motors.people think the B20s don't make much power because of their low factory ratings, but they don't consider the very restrictive factory intake, intake manifold and exhaust, along with the mild factory ECU tuning.get rid of those things and it really comes alive.
go a little further with an ITR style intake manifold and some cams and you should make quite a bit more power.
if you want to spend a lot of money, somebody above suggested a VTEC head.it's not as simple as throwing on the head and turning it 8kRPM if you want it reliable.the entire bottom end needs to be gone through and strengthened with certain issues addressed.i've always thought that if you want a 2.0L DOHC VTEC motor, boring a GSR is easier and more reliable with comparable costs(or maybe even cheaper compared to properly fully built B20/VTEC).

I have my driver license for 3 years at 20 years old, and not a driver expert but my advice is to wait enough to do everything. You never know you will get pull over by cop for stupid issue. Here in California, the cop will tow and impound for 30 days, & pay the fee appox. $1200 and postponed the driving test until 18 if no parent/guarduation or person w/ lic. But it's California.
