Let's talk about weight savings while remaining streetable.....
I have a heavy 91 si that tips the scales at 2323 lbs.....
How can I get the bitch down to sub 2000lbs?
I've already got lighter wheels and coilovers (aluminum) - cf hood and hatch I suppose would help. Remove sunroof would help. How about lexan all windows? Is front window lexan even remotely streetable (must be able to use wipers in the front.....)
Anything else? Cut out interior metal?
Heat and AC must stay.....

i took everything out of my hatch except one seat, guage cluster, and steering wheel. and i have no AC no heat, No heater core. and took out the sound deading material..
i wonder how much mine weighs. i was thinking about getting some lexan windows for teh hatch and the quater panel windows

It will cause you to sweat more, and hence lose a few lbs yourself as well, it all helps.

I would not drive Atlanta traffic without a/c.

I know it's a bit hotter than around here. If we get 30 degrees C (86 F) in summer it's considered very hot.

Windshield lexan would be a bad idea, even on a non NASCAR or drag racecar. you can put a metal (or CF or fiberglass) sunroof plug. ive got a 4 door integra down to 2505 with me in it, empty tank, and 6 point roll cage, all stock glass (with sunroof plug) so im sure you can get alot more out of it. good luck, keep us posted.
I have 92 Si HB 2326lbs. as well. Light wheels and suspension, gutted, no a/c or ps. Havent weighed it but would like more tips on lightening it more. Trying to hit 2100 lbs. or less
I am taking on the same task as you on the same chassis. My other stipulation is that the car must remain stock looking.
cf hood painted red (-25 pounds)
HX wheels (with hubcaps) (-10 pounds)
aluminum rear lca (-6 pounds)
wilwood dynalite calipers (-10 pounds)
eg radiator instead of ef (-10 pounds)
unnecessary engine brackets (-5 pounds)
take out carpet, remove tar, replace carpet (-10 pounds)
cut up bumper supports (-10 pounds)
titanium crossmember (-12 pounds)
Total (-98 pounds). Should put me at about 2050 pounds (my car is a standard). Car is still as streetable and stock looking as before the project.

I think removing sound deadning is a real good way to get rid of some weight. My DA weighed in at 2450 w/o me and it's an RS
I need to definately do some weight reduction.
I need to definately do some weight reduction.
I remember stripping the sound deadening of an ek sedan and took away 40lbs not including the firewall.
Id remove all the stock seats and replace with light buckets. Replace hood and trunk with fiberglass or carbon fiber.

my 91 std weighed 1980 with ac removed and gutted. still had heater core and ac controls under the dash. two front seats 1/4 tank of gas
items that will cost money but serve purpose lighter:
Rims/flywheel/battery/CF hood/CF trunk/steering wheel/seat/sunroof plug/seatbelt harness/brakes/suspension
things that are free:
sound deadining/removal brackets/front and rear metal bumpers/supports/rear seatbelt removal/gutting dashboard/heater core/windesheild resevoir/windsheild sprayer motor/stereo/speakers/doorpannels/gutting doors/carpet/headliner/sideview mirror/ac and components
there's alot one can do. as for me my ride last year was a 93 dx coupe. 2224 stock. add the weight of a b series over a d..say 50 lbs 2275.
i did about 75% of the total list above had the car down to 1850 lbs with a b series. over 400 lbs removed out of the car. we had a 400 lb doctor scale and weight sh*t in increments of 50lbs. i then weighed the car at the local track to verify weight.
had i done 100% of the list i wanted i wanted the car down to 1725-1750 before driver. there's definately alot you can do when it comes to weight redux. and this was a coupe. bought a 4 dr this year..and i'm not gonna go that crazy...but am curious to see how low i can get a 4dr dx this season.
oh to add...unless u cage the car..don't cut any metal out of it. it'll sacrafice handling/rigidity of the car. all the weight removal i performed was with the intent of putting it back to stock if i had too.

wow. 'H-T *******" is right. i'm not trying to claim 'badass' to anything. just trying to help him out. you've posted doubt on my vehilce weight one or two times before.
what's 'lying' about a car i don't even own gonna get me?
was your car weighing in at 1980 with a cage? i had none. cuz a cage would add 100-200 lbs easliy.

damn rights im the HT *******. i just dont believe that u can ditch 400lbs out of that stuff. just adding the fiberglass doors, hatch, front end, lexan windows, front lower and upper core supports and gutting the dash netted only 300lbs weight reduction, still no cage.
my 6pt basic chromoly cage weighs around 50lbs.
i just cannot believe that a DX coupe weighing in at around 150lbs more than a hatch can drop down to 100lbs LESS than a hatch with similar weight reduction.
92 CX/VX hatch 2084lbs stock, add B series motor +50lbs now ur at 2130+/- w/B motor gutted front to back, never had AC, 13lb rims, poly bushings, no bumper supports, stripped underdash, 2 stock seats, very little gas 1980lbs.
similar list but on DX coupe weighing over 2200lbs stock then dropping to 1850 w/ only 75% of the reduction list that u provided. now seriously does that make any sense to u? i didnt think so.

clean rice, i think it varies from state to state on lexan being street legal or not. as far as i know it says something about shatterable material not being legal for the front windshield which is why they have safety glass. for the side windows im not sure.

being a dick gets the point across and i hardly think i was being a dick.
my challenge was given in a more than acceptable manner. his reply was more of a personal attack. i called BS on his info, he called BS on me, i replied with a list and more info to back my point. now remind me where was i being a dick??? once again i didnt think so.
if u seriously think i was being a dick in my reply u got some mental problems, seriously. u should go back into the archives and seen me really call the BS out.
