Default 88 Lude Needs Help

I know you guys are tired of these questions, but I'm tired of searching and comming up with no complete answers. I'm gonna keep it as simple as I can. I've got a 1988 Prelude 2.0S (NOT Si). It needs a new engine and I want to know what to put in it. Any suggestions on Swaps would be much appreciated. I also would like to know if I took the bottom end from the car, which I believe is a B20A3, would it be possible to put another head on it to make it fuel injected and possibly VTEC. I'm on a budget, so please keep it simple. thanx

Its a completly different B series then all the rest of the B motors. I like to call it the Bastard B. No VTEC head will swap onto it, and they seem to like to eat oil

Most people are going to say " With lots of money and fabrication you can drop an h22 in it"

If you are on a budget i would think of maybe a new B series swap. Maybe a B16 as they are a dime a dozen and fairly cheap. Im not sure if the mounts are the same or if it is a direct swap. I forgot what the other prelude site is that just talks about 2-3 gen ludes.

Damn... so I was thinking maybe a B18C1 or C5 if I can find one that is somewhat affordable. Maybe a frankenstien, like a B18 block w/ B20 head or B16 block with a B18 head, would work. Cause that would be an interesting project. I know about swapping Civic motors, I used to have a 91 civic project until I sold it (twisted the unibody), I've just never swapped a Lude before. Well, I appreciate the input, if anyone else has anything to say that might be helpful, please do. Any comments are greatly appreciated.

dont listen to 98typesh

a v-tec head will fit, but it takes some serious work, and teh only motor that consumes oil are the early b21 motors, FRM cylander walls and a poor choice of rings was the cause. although in late 91 they got the mix right and those dont burn oil...hence mine was made in may of 91 and not a drop burns.

the bestthing for you to do would be to go with a JDM b20a, now its not the CRV or the accord, its a 2.0L from a japanese prelude, 145hp and 135tq, but you are gonna have to swap the harness over to a FI harness. thats gonna suck. thats pretty much your only option, as far as non USDM motors, the only USDM are b21a1 and b20a5. good luck

Thanx, street_ruler, that's exactly what I needed to hear. You rock man. I have one question though, F1 harness? Don't know much about them. I'll ask around at the shop, I'm sure someone there knows what the hell an F1 harness is and how to get one. Thanx much.

FI harness = Fuel Injected engine wiring harness.

Sorry i was thinking of the other earlier B series. yea dont listen to me, im not an expert on junk sorry. But why not swap a good B series in there ? Whats wrong with that ? If you are already going to have to swap the harness, why not just get a full B18 or B16 harness and swap on over ? because a older JDM 2.0 liter is better or something ?

Good luck with whatever route you go.
