Default Going from D series to B series VTEC: what's involved? How deep is the rabbit hole?

Hey everyone! I知 planning on a complete B series vtec swap for my 93 EG coupe . Which is currently a SOHC d16z6 vtec. Not familiar with the complete swap but my buddy has given me a free B16 head, so I was thinking of doing the swap starting with this free head I got . Since I am a noob to this B series swap, can you guys help out with the complete part list i値l need for this project? Also, I don稚 FOR SURE need to use the head I was given if that isn稚 the best route for this swap. I don稚 mind finding the correct head for the long block I値l need . So far I知 thinking ill need : B16/B18 head , B16/B18 long block (with internals) , distributor, shift linkage , LS or GSR tranny , integra axles, ECU (from a vtec model) , intake manifold, exhaust manifold. This is all I知 aware of now . Any of parts that you guys know of or any advice would be awesome!

Your z6 ecu will work for what ever you wanna run if you have it chipped for the next engine. I would pick up a jdm b20 motor and make a b20 vtec out of it if that b16 head is good. There's tons of write ups on how to build a reliable ls/b20 vtec as well as allot of info about what all you'll need for the swap. I would go with a gsr trans if you can get one. I don't like the hydro ls trannies they are geared too long for my taste.

Get a B16 or ITR trans instead of the GSR, and especially don't get an LS. Gears are too long to enjoy N/A power.

There's a lot of options you have right now. Depending on your budget, I'd find one of the above OEM transmissions, get a B20 or B18B long block, and do an LS/VTEC build using your current B16 head.

If the head is bare then you could build it mildly depending on what you do with the block. For an OEM block and light or no bolt-on mods I'd stick with something "tame" like Skunk2 Tuner 1 cams.

Until you hit the highway!

It's over an hour drive to the dragstrip, I end up swapping in LS 5th gears into the all motor B cars.
