2000 Accord LX - what grade gas?
Just bought a 2000 Accord LX a week ago. Manual specifies "86 or higher" for gas octane, but looking for suggestions on what others run. Is 87 OK?
My car is a 94 Accord LX and I only put 89 in it because I heard they will run better, and it still runs great with 145K miles. But I'd rather save the $.10 per gal on the 2000 if I don't have to use 89. thanks.

I ran 87 in my 99" and it would have a slight miss or stumble every now and then. Started using mid grade (89) and it runs fine problem solved. Of coure this was when the car was still stock.
87 is fine... from what i learned in class, 89 and 91 are for engines with higher compressions. our accords dont have compressions that high so using gas grades higher than 87 would probably lead to unburnt fuel in the combustion chamber
New car to you?
Run some fuel injector cleaner (Chevron ProGuard is $9.46 for 4 @ Costco/Sams club). That should clear both your 94 and 00 accords' need for 89.
