Well lately my car has been handling like crap. On the highway its fine since the roads are smooth but on the streets of nyc (worst streets in the us i think) it handles horribly, whenever i go over small bumps in the road my steering wheel basically slight goes to one side. i dont think my alignment is messed up cause its not pulling to any side. what should i check or replace? could my steering rack be shot? i plan to change the inner and outer tie rods along with the lower ball joints once i warms up here. im running tokico blues and h&r sports. any input would be appreciated.

 

Bump....I'm having the same problem...but i've learned to live with it. Happens mostly when i'm braking ill hit a rut in the road or a bump and the steering will pull that way...

 

it could just be from hitting the bumps at any slight angle to cause one wheel to pull before the other wheel but i would definately check the parts listed and alignment and replace or fix if neccessary

The best way (other than seeing if the car is pulling to one side) to check the alignment is by braking (slow steady). If it pulls then its your alignment, either that or you might need to get the toe adjusted. Lift the car and look for cracks and stuff missing.

 

what's ur suspension and wheel setup?

Yeah, you shouldn't have any problems from lowering it. Maybe it's just the surroundings, I mean, you can't expect your car to handle that well against a pot hole.

if you steering pull to one side when you braking, then you should check your brake especially the rotor . it could warp then check your caliper piston to see if it got stuck.

I didnt know low profile tires do that thanks for the info. Im gonna be putting on 15" Rotas soon so hopefully that will go away. Also brake pads and all rotors where replaced at the same time a few months ago so I doubt anything is warped but I will be checking them anyway.

I have 15in Rotas and it happens every now and then. It's going to, those tires are really easy to control for you and the road. Some times when the road pulls to one side your tire are naturally going to want to pull that way as well as in a pot hole.

Be careful when you drop it of the place that you go, don't put a big *** dent in you oil pan like me.

i bet its because your wheel size. with those tires on the outside diameter is larger than stock.

 

Did you ever align it after the drop? cuz otherwise I bet you got some camber, and toe issues which will kill the tires and cause crazy steering. I've also noticed with low profiles tires that the car likes to go wherever it wants. You shoudl check to make sure your tires are all equally inflated, I got some leaky ones and handling quickly deteriorates as they deflate.
