clanking noise help

Default clanking noise help

there is what sounds like metal on metal clanking sound when engine is rev up to around 3000 rpms and let off then it goes clank clank clank clank clank real quick and stops after like a second.
its coming from the power steering pump/head/exhaust manifold area.

any ideas?? (ill be back checking for problem again so please leave any and all ideas)

take off the valve cover and see if things look normal for a start. bent valve. spark plug broken.

It's probably just a heat shield. They can make pretty nasty noises when loose. Especially when cold and lower - mid RPM ranges. My header heatshield is loose right now, and it almost sounds like rod knock. My cat sheild was loose a couple months ago, and sounded just like what you're describing. I hate these damn cheap honda heat shields.

thought that too and took it off but wasnt it.

dumb luck that i found the problem.
had flashlight in hand, leaning over to follow noise i saw something move out of the corner of my eye which the light happened to be pointing at.
the belt slipped off center on the lower pulley and was slapping the lower part of the engine mount bracket wasnt tight enough which let it move

ok now this sux i tightened the belt up and now it squeeks. ive tried multiple postions of tightness and i either get the above problem or loud squeeking. any ideas that could render this?? already put belt dressing on it

yeah wheni put my UR crank pulley on, i made noise for like 3-4 days, now its gone
