Default Tranny swap Question

I have an auto 1997 honda prelude base. I'm planning on swapping the tranny with a manual. My question is: will a 96 2.3 L prelude tranny fit my engine? If so, what else might i can take from this lude in my tranny swap? Also, what parts will i still need?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

The trannys from a H23 and an H22 are different due to gear ratios. They DO fit. But since urs is a 5th gen and ur taking parts from a 4th Gen I'm not sure if anything else would fit.

I hear that the 4th has longer gears? Is that good if i'm going to stay relatively stock and drive it daily?

S models have the lowest final drive
Si models have the next highest final drive
Vtecs have the highest final drive. I think you should stay with the vtec tranny so when you shift you are still in the power band.

I beleive all three have the same final drive (editops, except the S). It is the gears themselves (1st,2nd,3rd, etc...) that are higher. That is right though the S has the tallest, down to the VTEC which has the lowest. Since a 4th gen VTEC is shorter than a 5th gen base I would thing the 4th gen Si would be really close to stock 5th gen.
